On October 31, the nation will observe the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on account of the birth anniversary of the Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Both the government and private institutions will arrange several events with an intent to pay tribute to the first Deputy Prime Minister of India. To keep up the spirit, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has instructed all its affiliated schools to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2018. The board is set to organise ‘Run for Unity’ at its state/ district headquarters and has asked the schools to participate in the same. CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2019 Registration Begins! The reason to observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas as stated by CBSE in its circular is that the “occasion provide us an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country.” On its notice, the board has further urged the schools to conduct a pledge ceremony on October 31 which has been forwarded too. It reads, “I solemnly pledge that I dedicate myself to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among my fellow countrymen. I take this pledge in the spirit of unification of my country which was made possible by the vision and actions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. I also solemnly resolve to make my own contribution to ensure internal security of my country.” CBSE Relaxes Passing Criteria for Class 10 Students! After the observance is conducted successfully, CBSE has asked the affiliated schools to submit a report on the same on or before November 3, 2018. A link to upload the report has been provided along with the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge ceremony. Those schools who cannot participate at the board’s state/ district headquarter run, are advised to organise a school-level ‘Run for Unity’.
