QS Asia Rankings 2019: Here Are the List of Indian Universities Among Top 100 Institutes

Eight Indian Universities have placed themselves among top 100 institutes in the list of Asia’s top universities. IIT Bombay moved to the 33rd position from last year’s 34th.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the popular publication across the world of university rankings has now released the QS Asia University Rankings 2019. Reflecting a wide range of academic standards of the institutes in Asia, this year reportedly, QS has increased the number of universities featured in the rankings from 450 to 550. And it is a delight to see our Indian Universities in the rankers list. In the latest, eight Indian Universities have placed themselves among top 100 institutes in the list of Asia’s top universities. IIT Bombay Tops QS Rankings of Indian Institutions; IISc Bengaluru & IIT Madras Bagged Second & Third Spots. 

In the QS Asia Rankings 2019, the National University of Singapore (NUS) has beaten last year’s first ranked Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and stood tall at the first position. Further, the University of Hong Kong occupied in the second position and NTU this year managed to get the third rank in the list. Besides, the rankings of Indian Universities have improved than earlier. IIT Bombay moved to the 33rd position from last year’s 34th. IIT Delhi is at 40th rank, IIT Madras at 48, Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) at 50, IIT Kharagpur at rank 53, IIT Kanpur at 61 followed by Delhi University and IIT Roorkee, among the Indian Institutions in the top 100. IIT Bombay Beats IIT Delhi in QS World University Rankings 2019: Check List of Top 500 Universities Across the Globe.

Also, according to QS release, there are 75 universities from India in the top 500 Asia list with 40 new institutions. The universities in Asia have been assessed on academic reputation, employer reputation, student-faculty ratio, international faculty and students, staff with PhD, papers per faculty and citations per papers, among other parameters. Indian is the third largest contributor after China and Japan in the Asia rankings.
