Mumbai, July 25: The Education Department of the Pune Zila Parishad shut down 13 unauthorised schools on July 23. Sanjay Naikade, Primary Education Officer of the Pune Zila Parishad, announced that police complaints have been filed against ten of these schools, with proceedings underway to file cases against the remaining institutions. Earlier this month, the Primary and Secondary Education Department released a list of 49 unauthorised schools across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and other rural areas in the district.
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the Education Department has intensified its efforts against unauthorised schools and those lacking the required permissions since last year. As part of this initiative, the Pune Zilla Parishad has released a list of 49 unauthorised schools for the current academic year. Out of 49 unauthorised schools, five have been approved, and three have received a letter of intent from the government. Further action has been taken against these schools following an order by Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Santosh Patil. The students in these schools have been transferred to other nearby schools.
