New Delhi, May 4: The Supreme Court on Thursday put a stay on a Madras High Court direction that asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to set up more centres in the state for the upcoming medical test on Sunday, May 6. This is believed to be a big blow to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirants from Tamil Nadu. The apex court order comes as a jolt to 12 lakh medical aspirants who will appear for the examination this week.

With the Apex Court’s decision, scores of students from Tamil Nadu will now have to travel to neighbouring state Kerala to appear for the NEET UG exam. Reports inform that the top court accepted CBSE’s plea that new exam centres cannot be established at such short notice. According to reports, 1000 to 1500 students will have to travel to Ernakulum and other centres in Kerala.

It will be a nightmare for parents as they will have travel to the exam centres in the neighbouring state by bus or train. Parents have been greatly stressed as all modes of transport will be crowded due to summer rush.  According to reports, in another similar case, the Delhi High Court on Thursday allowed a plea moved by Sikh students seeking permission to wear traditional `kada` and `kirpan` inside the exam hall in the upcoming NEET exam.

In April, the CBSE released the Admit Cards for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 at cbseneet.ac.in. The students who have registered for the national level entrance exam can download their hall tickets by visiting their official website. It must be noted that NEET 2018 Admit Cards will not be sent by post to any aspirants. Students must take a print out of the hall tickets to get an entry in the examination hall.
