With the introduction of National Testing Agency, it was decided that the entrance exams for both engineering and doctor would be held twice a year. However, the decision to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) two times a year was never implemented. And it concluded that the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) would be held twice and NEET once in an academic year. Now, the recent reports are suggesting that NTA might mull the decision. It has been reported that NTA is likely to conduct NEET twice a year from 2021. The planning is at the initial state, and the agency is yet to review the decision. ISRO Recruitment Notification 2019 Announced for 327 Scientist and Engineer Job Vacancies; Know Exam Schedule, Eligibility & Other Details Online.

NTA Director, Vineet Joshi informed The Indian Express that officials are considering to hold NEET twice in a calendar year. They will proceed only after receiving a nod from the Ministry of Health. “We have received lots of communications from the students and teachers across the country and are, therefore, thinking of conducting it twice a year, like the JEE Main,” Joshi was quoted in the same report. He further confirmed that in any case that happens, there would be no change in the exam dates or pattern for 2020 examination. The NEET 2020 exam schedule will remain unaffected. Besides, the plan to conduct the medical entrance exam twice a year, will be implemented from 2021.

Meanwhile, NTA is all set to conduct the entrance exam for MBBS/ BDS courses from May 3, 2020. The online registrations for the same will be held from December 2 to December 31, 2019. Recently, the Ministry of Health declared that admission to MBBS courses in medical institutes across the country, including JIPMER and AIIMS, will be done through NEET and will be effective from 2020. This also increased tension among the students in terms of increasing competitions and if there will be any changes in the syllabus for the upcoming exam. As of now, the syllabus, exam dates and exam pattern as of NEET 2020 notification remain.
