Here comes a great announcement for students pursuing science courses at government pre-university colleges. The juniors in Karnataka will now get free coaching to sit for competitive examinations which are entrances to secure seats in professional courses. All the candidates will be guided with no costs for exams such as Common Entrance Test (CTE), National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The classes for the same will begin from the current 2018-19 academic year in 250 PU colleges.
This scheme was announced by the Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in the latest budget. The state Department of Pre-university Education had submitted a proposal to the higher education department to start the program. According to the PUE department, the free classes will be conducted for 15 hours per week between 7:30 am to 9:00 am every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This initiative will be launched in association with the state department of technical education and Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) under Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The PUE department further informed that these classes would be online where subject experts will guide the students. At the end of each session, the classroom will be given a chance to ask their doubts. The coaching will be for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Director of PUE department, C. Shikha said that such a step aims to help students, especially those in rural areas who do not have access to quality tutorials.
