Junior college admissions have started with bifocal merit lists being declared in Maharashtra, but few students continue to be on the stake as they are in distress because of not receiving their hard copy of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results. The class 10th results were announced by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on June 8 and about 125 students scored a full 100 percent marks this year. However, the original marksheets were not distributed on the same and it was only last week, that the students received the hard copies.

Many of the SSC mark sheets were reported to have errors and at some Maharashtra Board affiliated schools, the students are still waiting for the corrected marksheets. “The hologram, which is a sign of the marksheet being authentic, was missing in about 1,300 marksheets. Students are worried they will not have their marksheets when admission merit lists are out,” P Redij, member of the principals’ association was quoted saying in a TNN report. This at large are affecting the candidates under Maharashtra Board as almost all the desired junior colleges have begun with their admission procedures. But due to such mismanagements by the Maharashtra Board, the students’ future comes in jeopardy.

Talking about the corrected marksheets, the MSBSHSE chairperson S Kale told, “The corrections have been made and new marksheets have been printed. The distribution might have not happened due to the weekend. Students will get them soon and should not worry about admissions.” This year, the pass percentage of SSC board results stood at 89.41 percent and Konkan district topped securing 96 percent pass.
