The Maharashtra State Service Commission (MPSC) selected 833 candidates through recruitment exams last year for the positions of Transport Inspector. But according to the Nagpur High Court bench rule, the appointment stands to cancel now leaving the students fate at stake. Lakhs of students filled the forms following job vacancies advertisement at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in 2017. Reportedly, about ten thousand candidates could successfully clear the preliminary exam qualifying for the Mains which was conducted on August 6, 2017. The results of the same were declared on March 31, 2018, in which 833 candidates were shortlisted. MPSC Released First Answer Keys to State Service Prelims 2018.

The selected candidates got their call letters and were invited for document verifications on June 14, 2018. However, the Nagpur bench decision came in as a big blow to the selected MPSC candidates. The rule was against the state government’s 2016 resolution relaxing the terms of having one-year experience of heavy vehicle licence and garage. MPSC decided to meet these conditions when the candidates are in probation. The Nagpur bench earlier put a halt in the selection procedure and now had cancelled the recruitment procedure. 833 candidates are affected with the decision and students feel their valuable years in preparing for the exam have only been wasted.

The students are planning to approach the Supreme Court regarding the MPSC recruitment for the Transport Inspectors. MPSC is a constitutional body established under Article 315 of the Constitution of India which provides an efficient functioning of the Government of Maharashtra by providing suitable and eligible candidates for various government posts.
