This decision comes in with the University’s ongoing efforts to use the digital route to develop the efficiency in the conduct of its examinations and speed up the process of publication of results.
In a bid to make it more student-friendly and keep up with today’s digital, reducing last-minute stress among the college authorities, the Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) will deliver the question papers online from November 13. The questions for undergraduates (UG) will be shared with MGU’s 192 affiliated colleges. This decision comes in with the University’s ongoing efforts to use the digital route to develop the efficiency in the conduct of its examinations and speed up the process of publication of results. Media reports highlighted that the online delivery of question papers for UG students would begin with the November’s third-semester exams. R. Prakash, Syndicate member and convener of MGU’s examination sub-committee told The Hindu, “From then onwards, the delivery of question papers for all undergraduate exams in the future will be done online. We had already implemented it successfully for our postgraduate exams.” This online delivery of question papers to the Principals of MGU’s affiliated colleges is expected to decrease the existing unwieldy procedure involved in printing, packing and transporting to a hundred of its exam centres. Only the respective Principal of the colleges will have the permission to download the question papers.
The colleges will be given appropriate time to download and print out the questions depending on the number of students appearing in the exams. Owing to the floods that hit the state of Kerala, MGU had to cancel the exams and reschedule them for student’s convenience. According to the new timetable, the fifth-semester exams which earlier were to start on October 10, have been postponed to October 24. The third-semester exams too went through a change, which earlier was scheduled on October 10 will now begin from November 13, and the question papers online will be distributed from this day.
