Maharashtra Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams are scheduled to begin on March 1, 2018. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) informed that over 17.51 lakh students are due to appear for the Class X examinations that start on Thursday.

The SSC examinations will be conducted at 4,657 centres across the state of Maharashtra. There will be Board examinations held for vocational subjects, for the very first time this year. Over 19,184 students have registered for the same.

Talking in terms of numbers, there are 9.73 lakh male students, and 7.78 lakh female students in the total of 17.51 lakh students. The total number of schools in the state are 21,986.

As per the reports, 16.37 lakh students will be appearing for the first time, while 67,563 students will be appearing as repeaters, and 46,007 students will be appearing as Others. A total of 8,021 students belong to the physically handicapped category, and there are special provisions made for them under the ambit of law.

A total of 10 counselors have been working continuously for the welfare of students across the state. If a student fails to appear for a practical or a viva examination, then a special provision has been made for the same.

If a student, with a genuine reason, fails to turn up for the practical examination, then he or she can appear for the same on March 26 and March 27. For this, the student will have to approach the divisional center for more details. In case any student fails to clear his or her examinations, the SSC re-examinations will take place in July-August.

The SSC Board examinations are slated to take place in the above mentioned 9 divisions. In every division, there will be a minimum of 7 flying squads assigned, to ensure that the students do not indulge in malpractices during examinations. Overall, there will be a total of 252 flying employed throughout the state to see that examinations are undertaken in a fair manner.
