As rainfall hits Kerala, the state witnesses the worst floods in their history. A number of deaths have been reported so far from the cities and villages submerged by floodwaters. In the wake of resurgent monsoon, the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) has decided to postpone the recruitment process which is scheduled for August 17 to 18, 2018. All the candidates must note that the written exams, departmental exams, interview, service verification, certificate verification which were slated on those dates have been cancelled. The candidates are hence suggested to keep a tab on the official website, kpsc.kar.nic.in as any updates in this regard will be published there only. In June when Kerala was in the headlines after facing deadly Nipah outbreak, KPSC at that time too had to cancel and re-schedule the recruitment exams for School Assistant and Civil Police Officer/ Women Civil Police Officer positions. Meanwhile, the Department of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), had postponed the first year improvement exam which was slated to be held tomorrow, August 17. The department is expected to announce the fresh date soon on their official website.

Due to such a disastrous condition, Kerala PSC has decided to donate Rs. 25 lakhs to the CMO Flood Relief Fund. NDTV reported that the move was decided in a special meeting convened by the PSC Chairman Advocate M.K. Shakeer. Kerala is on red alert. Schools, colleges, railway stations and Kochin airport are shut until further notice.
