A district in Jammu and Kashmir which is very often in the news being on the grip of unrest and curfew, a 17-year-old girl was busy in tailoring her dream. Adeeba Tak from the Sophian Hill district created history by achieving a 100 percent scholarship from the esteemed University of Pennsylvania in the United States of America to fulfil her dream to become an aeronautical engineer. Adeeba gives full credit to her teachers who have been a constant support to her as she was studying very hard to for more than two years to accomplish her desire.
In an interview, Adeeba told India Today, “I had a dream of becoming an engineer. Everyone said why pursue it, it is not good for girls. I, however, continued. My teachers were a real help. There were times when we didn't know what was happening around. There was so much unrest in 2016, but our teachers ensured we continued to study.”
Adeeba is a student of RiSE, an institute which coaches aspirants on several courses. As per the report, Adeeba has always been a bright student and her intellect first came to the forefront in 2015, when she topped the first edition of an Institute’s talent search examination. Adeeba Tak becomes the first girl to earn such a feat from the district. Her family is proud of her success. Her mother was quoted in the same report saying, “I feel the children should be given opportunities to do what they want to. She has made us all proud. We are very happy.”
They say it well that learning never exhausts the mind. This is indeed a stirring account of education and devotion. With such a triumph, 17-year-old Adeeba is an inspiration to many opening gates for those who want to fulfil their dream of becoming an Engineer.
