New Delhi, April 8: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday conducted the offline mode of the Joint Entrance Examination or JEE. Both Papers I & II were held today in 112 cities across the nation.

The official answer key is expected to be released by the CBSE between April 24-27 on the official website - ww.jeemain.nic.in. However, the unofficial answer key, prepared by students and coaching institutes, is expected to be out within a couple of days.

Students who appeared for the exams today said Paper I was relatively easy as compared to the previous years, with questions being asked mostly on expected lines. "Mathematics section was the most easiest. Chemistry was also fine for those who have prepared. Only Physics tricked us to an extent," said student Amreesh Kohli after attempting the Paper I test.

The marks secured in Paper I are crucial for securing admissions to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) courses.

Most private tutors claim the potential cut-off marks this year is likely to be between 95 to 105. However, Prof Uday Nath Mishra, Chief Academic Officer, BasicFirst predicted the cutoff to be 80 (+-5 per cent) out of 360.

The online mode of the examination, also known as the JEE Main CBT or computer based test will be held in two sets on April 15 and 16. Two sets of different question papers have been prepared for the exams to be conducted on the two varying dates.

Aspirants are eagerly awaiting for the official answer key to be uploaded, which would determine their future. In case the candidates doubt the answer released to a particular question by the examiners, they can challenge it at a cost of Rs 1000 per question. The amount will be refunded if the challenging candidate is proved correct.
