Mumbai, November 6: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, which will organise the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025, recently announced the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria for Indian and foreign nationals on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in. In what can be said to be a major rejig, the number of attempts for the Joint Entrance Examination, Advanced has been increased from two times to three times this year. According to the new guidelines, a candidate can now attempt the JEE Advanced examination a maximum of three times in three consecutive years.
It must be noted that earlier, the number of attempts was limited to two in two consecutive years. According to reports, IIT Kanpur is likely to release the JEE Advanced 2025 information bulletin containing the exam date, registration process, application fee, exam pattern, syllabus, marking scheme, and other details on the JEE Advanced 2025 official website, jeeadv.ac.in. Only students who qualify for the JEE Main 2025 exam will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced 2025 examination. As per the eligibility criteria, everything except the JEE Advanced attempt limit remains the same for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam. It must be noted that candidates should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the BE/BTech paper (Paper I) of the JEE (Main) 2025 examination. The percentages of various categories of candidates who will be shortlisted are 10 per cent for GEN-EWS, 27 per cent for OBC-NCL, 15 per cent for SC, 7.5 per cent for ST, and the remaining 40.5 per cent for Open.
Another eligibility criterion is the age limit. To appear for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam, candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. However, the age limit has been relaxed by five years for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. Other eligibility requirements include candidates passing Class 12 or equivalent examination for the first time in either 2023, 2024, or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Applicants who appeared in Class 12 or an equivalent examination for the first time in 2022 or earlier are not eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2025 exam.
