JEE Advanced 2018 Exam Date: Online Registration Begins at jeeadv.ac.in, Know Eligibility and Exam Pattern Details

New Delhi, 2018: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results of JEE Main on April 30 where a total number of 2.3 lakh students qualified. The registration process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced has begun from today, May 2. The exam will be conducted by IIT Kanpur. It will be a computer-based test mode. The exam will be conducted on Sunday, May 20.

The paper is divided into two parts: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is scheduled from 9 am to 12 pm and paper 2 will conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm. Students who wish to register for the Advanced can do so at the official website — jeeadv.ac.in. Students who qualify in these exams can gain admission to the bachelor’s, integrated master’s and dual degree programmes (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs in India.

This year, in order to enhance the gender balance in the undergraduate programs at the IITs, the management has taken a decision to create supernumerary seats only for female students. However, this will not affect the number of seats available for male candidates. These seats will be offered to only those female candidates who qualify JEE (Advanced) – 2018. The current approximate percentage of girl students in IITs is  8 percent. The IIT management wants to raise it to 14 percent in the academic year 2018-19.

JEE Advanced 2018: Eligibility criteria

1. The candidate must be among the top 2,24,000 (including all categories) in Paper -1 of JEE (Main) 2018

2. Not have appeared in JEE (Advanced) in 2016 or earlier than that.

3. Appeared for the Class 12 (or equivalent) board examination for the first time 2018 or 2017 but not before that.

4. The candidate should not have accepted admission at any of the IITs earlier.

The age limit for the candidates applying is that the student should have been born on or after October 1, 1993, that is 18 years of age and not more than that.

The total attempts for JEE Advanced 2018: An aspirant can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years. Violating this criteria will lead to disqualification.

The Examination pattern for JEE Advanced 2018 is as follows:

There will be two compulsory papers. The time provided to the students for each paper is three hours. Questions in the papers will be from subjects like mathematics, physics and chemistry.
