The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, has activated the registration links for IIT Joint Admission Test for Masters’ programmes (JAM). Candidates who wish to apply for the examination can visit the official website; jam.iitk.ac.in and start filling the IIT JAM 2020 applications. The schedule released by IIT Kanpur stated that the online applications would begin on September 5, 2019. However, it was noticed that the link of JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) was activated from September 4, 2019, itself. While activating the IIT JAM 2020 JOAPS Portal, IIT Kanpur also notified that due to operational reasons, Ghaziabad city had been transferred from IIT Delhi zone to IIT Roorkee zone. The candidates are advised to begin the application process soon to avoid the last-minute hassle. It shall be noted that the IIT JAM 2020 registration process will be closed on October 8 at 5:30 pm.

How to Apply for IIT JAM 2020?

  • Visit the official website of IIT Kanpur; jam.iitk.ac.in and complete the three stages of applications—Registration, Fill the Form, Upload Documents & Application Fee.
  • On the homepage, you will find the activated JOAPS link.
  • Complete the registration process first. Note that you will be required to submit a valid email ID and mobile number.
  • After the first step of registration, candidates will be directed to fill in the IIT JAM 2020 application.
  • Submit all the necessary details, including personal, academic, examination centre and other essential details.
  • On the third stage, you are required to upload scanned images of passport size photograph and signature.
  • The images must be of the appropriate size, as mentioned by IIT Kanpur.
  • The application form will be fully filled, after you submit the required fee. The payment mode is available online.

JAM exam will be held in three types: multiple-choice questions (MCQ), numerical answer type (NAT) and multiple selection questions (MSQ). The exam is being conducted to provide admissions to M.Sc. (Four Semesters), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-PhD Dual Degree, etc. Programmes at the IITs and Integrated PhD Degree Programmes at IISc for consolidating Science as a career option.
