The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has released notification for the admissions to MPhil and PhD (regular mode) courses for the academic session of July 2018. IGNOU invites the online application forms for both the courses from January 23 and the last date for its submissions is February 16. Interested candidates can check the same on the official website onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in.

Prof Kaustuva Barik, Director of IGNOU Research Unit said that a national level entrance test will be conducted in selected examination centres across the country.

The PhD entrance test will be conducted on March 4.

Eligibility Criteria for MPhil: Master’s Degree of any recognized University/other qualifications recognized as equivalent with 55 percent marks at Post Graduation level; 50 percent in case of reserved categories.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD: Master’s Degree or MPhil in the relevant discipline. Candidates holding MPhil degree or those who have cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) or any other equivalent examination will be exempted from appearing in the entrance test. Students who have not cleared NET or any other equivalent examination or does not hold MPhil Degree will be required to appear for the entrance test.

PhD admission is offered in the disciplines of Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Library and Information Science, Political Science, Public Administration, History, Gender and Development Studies, Women’s Studies, Geography, Translation Studies, Statistics, Food and Nutritional Sciences, Environmental Science, Geology, Distance Education, Management, Life Sciences, Commerce, Hindi, Nursing, Social Work, Physics, Bio-Chemistry and Chemistry Discipline.

MPhil admission is offered in the courses of Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Geography, Translation Studies, Social Work, Commerce, Distance Education and Chemistry Discipline.
