IGNOU Introduces PG Diploma in Environmental and Occupational Health From 2019; All You Need to Know About the New Course

After the launch of Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) courses, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has now launched a new course on Environmental and Occupational Health. Reportedly, the institute’s School of Interdisciplinary and Trans-disciplinary Studies has introduced a Post Graduate (PG) Diploma in Environmental and Occupational Health programme. The main focus of the curriculum will be on the public health risks associated with biological, chemical, physical, biomechanical and psycho-social hazards in natural and built environments. All the candidates who are interested in studying the course should note that it will be in English and the study period can be extended from one year to maximum three years. IGNOU Launches B.Com With Majors in Finance & Cost Accounting As New Courses. 

IGNOU has started with their application process already in November, and the candidates as of now can apply for the courses till December 31, 2018. For this new course, the students will have to pay a fee of Rs. 6,600 at the time of registration. Besides, the applicants need to possess 10+2 pass certificate in Science stream with graduation from any discipline.

All You Need to Know About the New PG Diploma in Environmental and Occupational Health.

1. To apply for the course, a candidate is a class 12 board exam qualifier in Science stream from a recognised board or institute.

2. The course will impart knowledge about various concepts related to the general environment, the environment at the workplace, related hazards and evaluation of health risk assessment by providing solutions to various aspects.

3. The PG Diploma course can be extended from one year to a maximum of three years.

4. After the successful completion of the course, the candidates will get an opportunity to work with the health practitioners, researchers and policymakers to develop, evaluate and monitor health policies, programmes and practises related to healthy environments.

The Ministry of Environment and Forests stated that Environmental and Occupational health centres are mandatory at the hazardous process. Further, a full time environmental and occupational health specialist are required when the number of employees in the concerned unit exceeds to 200. So, if you are highly interested in a challenging career as this, you should definitely apply for the new course.

IGNOU, also known as the ‘People’s University’ is the largest Open University in India and offers students a chance to pursue courses through distance mode. There are 21 schools through which the institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate courses. At present, the university is undergoing with its application process for the January 2019 session.
