New Delhi, August 28: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has officially commenced the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 today, August 28. Eligible candidates can now submit their applications via the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in.
The last date to apply for GATE 2025 without a late fee is September 26, while applications with a late fee can be submitted until October 7. The exam is scheduled for February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025, with two shifts on each day. Candidates are allowed to appear for up to two papers. GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates currently in their 3rd year or higher of an undergraduate degree, or those holding a government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities, are eligible to apply. Additionally, candidates with certifications from professional societies recognized by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC, or those who obtained their qualifying degrees from outside India, are also eligible. GATE 2025: Documents Required
Applicants need to upload high-quality images of their photograph and signature, along with scanned copies of their category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate, Dyslexia certificate, and a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Driving License). The photo ID must be presented on the exam day for verification.
GATE 2025: Application Fees
The application fee during the regular period is INR 900 for female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates, and INR 1,800 for others. During the extended period, the fee increases to INR 1,400 and INR 2,300, respectively.
GATE 2025: Exam Format
GATE 2025 will include 30 papers, with candidates able to choose one or two papers from permissible combinations. The three-hour exam will feature Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. GATE scores, valid for three years, are used for admissions to postgraduate programs and recruitment by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
