Every year, the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) conducts entrance test to recruit highly skilled, competent and capable persons. Qualified candidates in the professional test, appears in the written exams and final selection is only done through a personal interview. DSSSB is at holding exams to recruit Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) in Delhi government schools. In one such exam, on August 12, one of the centres’ candidates allegedly received a wrong question paper. They were prepared and sat for Sanskrit exam, but instead got political science paper. Delhi Government Invite Applications For 1650 Group C Posts in DSSSB.

The Indian Express reported that the incident took place at a government school in northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad. Following the major glitch, the DSSSB officials hold a re-test for those students who received the wrong question paper. However, the questions in Sanskrit paper remained the same, leading to assertions that these candidates would have already known the questions.

A guest teacher who took the exam, Sunil Shastri was quoted in the report as saying, “The exam was supposed to begin at 10.30 am. But at the Jaffrabad centre, question papers were distributed at different timings in different classrooms. In some cases, Sanskrit candidates were given the political science paper. When we complained, officials from the DSSSB and police came to the school and said a re-test would be held. But by then, those who got the Sanskrit paper had discussed the questions.”

On the other hand, some candidates also filed a complaint regarding the same with the board and police; however, an action is yet to be taken. Another aspirant said when they protested for the question paper being the same and decided not to sit for the exams, the officials ‘confined’ them in the classroom.

Last year, too such mismanagement from the DSSSB’s side occurred. Due to an exam paper leak to recruit primary teachers for municipal schools, a CBI probe arrested 18 people related to it. DSSSB hold exams to recruit teachers for the Delhi government schools. Over 25,000 teacher positions lies vacant in 1,100 schools. It must be noted that since 2010, recruitment of the teachers has been on hold and the government stated that the DSSSB officials had failed to act on it.
