According to TOI, the vacation calendar for Mumbai region displays the schools to be shut from November 5 and reopen on November 21. The circular has further created confusion for schools as the designated date is a holiday for Eid and November 23 is again a holiday for Guru Nanak Jayanti; as reported by Rajesh Pandya, vice-president of Teachers’ Democratic Front. The teachers further pointed out that such fewer vacation days might also hamper the assessment work. Pandya told the Hindustan Times, “Assessment work is always scheduled during Diwali, which means we end up correcting exam papers even on holidays every year.
