Jaipur, May 15: The school syllabus in Rajasthan is undergoing a sea change with the new Congress government infusing fresh thoughts into the system. After proposing major changes in RSS ideologue Savarkar’s biography taught in schools, the Rajasthan government will also remove references about demonetisation from school textbooks. From the current academic season, demonstration won't be part of the syllabus.

"Demonetisation was a most unsuccessful experiment. The three objectives the Prime Minister had mentioned for demonetisation — end of terrorism, corruption and bringing back black money — couldn’t be achieved and the public was forced to stand in line. It also puts a burden of more than Rs 10,000 crore on the country," the state’s Education Minister, Govind Singh Dotasara told a leading daily50 Lakh Jobs Lost in Two Years Post Demonetisation, Finds SWI 2019 Report on Unemployment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in November 2016 announced demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, scrapping 86 per cent of the available currency in market. In 2017, then BJP government, headed by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, introduced a portion on demonetisation in the political science book of Class 12, calling the exercise “historic” and an “operation to clean black money”. PM Narendra Modi Defends Demonetisation, Says 'No Job Loss Due to Note Ban'.

Earlier, Dotasar had said that the committee formed to recommend changes in school syllabus concluded that Savarkar had been portrayed in a far stronger light than other freedom fighters by the previous BJP government. "The then BJP government made the education department a laboratory and it had made changes in the curriculum for the political interests of the RSS," he had said.

As per proposed changes, Savarkar will be referred to as “conspirator who plotted the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi". It will also be mentioned that Savarkar apologised to the British administration thrice to come out of jail. Dotasara also said that a picture depicting women committing Johar has been removed from the Class 8 English textbook.
