Delhi Police Arrest 3 From Himachal Pradesh in Connection With CBSE Question Paper Leak
Police of Saturday arrested three persons including an exam superintendent, a clerk and a peon from Himachal Pradesh’s Una District for their alleged role in the class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) Economics question paper leak.
New Delhi, April 7: Police of Saturday arrested three persons including an exam superintendent, a clerk and a peon from Himachal Pradesh’s Una District for their alleged role in the class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) Economics question paper leak. An officer told PTI that all the three persons were brought to Delhi after being questioned.
As reported by The Hindu, The police said that the accused accessed the question paper two days before the examination, copied the questions on a piece of paper and circulated them. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ram Naik said that the accused were traced during a probe, and he and his team went to Una on Friday. Reported The Hindu. Officer further added, "Recce was conducted, the accused were identified and questioned. They were brought to Delhi in the early hours of Saturday after which the arrest came into effect.”
Special investigation team officials confirmed that they had questioned around 200 people. The investigation team analysed over 20 WhatsApp groups to reach to the exact source of the leak. Officials confirmed the involvement of the superintendent in the class 12 Economics paper leak. CBSE registered case on 27th march. A day after the class 12th Economics paper was leaked. The Delhi Police began investigation immediately once an FIR is filed.
Till now total of six arrests have been made regarding this case. On April 1, The Delhi police arrested three persons from Bawana, Delhi. The three accused arrested were identified as Rishabh and Rohit, teachers at a private school, and Tauqeer, a tutor at a coaching centre in Bawana.
CBSE’s class 12 Economics exam was scheduled on March 26. Almost 500,000 people had taken the exam, but due to paper leak controversy CBSE announced retest on April 25, whereas for the class 10 Mathematics exam no retest will be conducted. Opposition parties blamed the Modi government for the total chaos.
