Civil Service Aspirant Attempts Suicide by Jumping in front of Delhi's Metro Train
A 23-year-old civil service aspirant allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in front of a metro train in the capital city.
The cases of various aspirants committing suicide have become an increasingly common factor in India. For preparing in national level entrances, students travel to the nearby cities which hosts the best coaching in their respective fields to seek the academic glory. But not everyone can make it which unfortunately leads to tragic incidents. In a recent case, a 23-year-old civil service aspirant allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in front of a metro train in the capital city.
As per local reports, the incident took place on July 9 at 9:30 am on the blue line at Karol Bagh metro station in Delhi. A senior official from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) informed that the aspirant jumped in front of a Noida-bound train which was approaching the platform. The 23-year-old survived with injuries on the head and had been admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and he is under observation at present. This event occurred ahead of the announcement of result date of UPSC prelims 2018.
A Police official further informed that the survivor was a native of Mumbai and was staying at his friend's in Nirman Vihar, East Delhi. Soon after the incident, the metro services on the blue lines were slightly affected, but the DMRC resumed regular operations. Recently, there have been a lot of episodes which have made the headlines where civil service aspirants risked their life.
Last month, during the UPSC Prelims 2018, a 28-year-old committed suicide after he was denied entry to the exam hall as he was late by a few minutes. Again at the end of March, a 26-year-old woman who was preparing for civil service exams hung herself from a ceiling fan after she could not clear the mains in Delhi.
