The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the exam date for University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET). UGC NET for awarding Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is scheduled to be held in July 8, 2018. The notification also reads the important changes introduced in the paper and dates for filling the forms.

Important points:

1. CBSE will notify its detailed notice on February 1, 2018.

2. The application form of UGC NET July 2018 will release on March 6, 2018.

3. Eligible candidates will be able to fill in the application form at nic.in.

4. The last date for application is April 5,2018.

5. The payment of application fee can be done until April 6, 2018.

6. To submit the application form, candidates must fill in the form and upload the scanned photograph with signature on it.

The amount of the application fee has not been revealed yet.

Last year, the Board has introduced few changes in the exam pattern but this year it is going through some drastic modifications.

UGC NET 2018 exam pattern has been revised. Earlier the students had to appear for three papers comprised of 50, 50 and 75 important questions. Now the exam will have only two papers. The first paper will contain 50 compulsory questions. The second paper will have 100 marks compulsory questions. Paper 1 will have questions from reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness whereas, paper 2 will be related to the chosen subject only. The duration of Paper 1 is 1 hour and 15 minutes; for paper 2 the aspirants will get 2 hours.

Further, the age limit for JRF candidates has been increased to two years. Earlier the candidates above the age of 28 years could not apply for JRF but now the limit has been extended to 30 years. However, the aspirants from reserved categories get relaxation of 5 years.
