CBSE will charge a fine of Rs. 500 per extra student along with a show-cause notice for withdrawal of affiliation.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are in with some significant changes this time to ease the stress and make education accessible to all the students. After announcing to change the exam pattern from 2020, its exam schedule, result declaration, passing criteria for class 10 students, change in Class 12 question paper pattern and many more, the board now intends to penalise over thousands of its affiliated schools to keep more than 40 students per section. The ideal class size is one in which there are not more than 30 students. On the other hand, experts suggest teacher-student interactions in the smaller class sizes with 17-18 students per class are higher and can improve student’s exam scores. However, CBSE allows 40 students in each section in all the affiliated schools. The violations were detected through the board’s Online Affiliated School Information System (OASIS). Hence, as TOI reports; CBSE aims to penalise about 1,700 schools across the country. In a notice, the educational board said; “Schools should enter number of sections and number of students which should be in consonance with the information provided on OASIS. This information should be filled very carefully in OASIS as schools will not be allowed to change the declared section/strength afterwards.” CBSE to Relax Passing Criteria for Class 10 Board Exam 2019 As Well?
OASIS was introduced in 2016 with an objective to unite the entire school information on a digital platform. As per the data, it was observed that the registrations exceeded the number of seats allowed for the schools in many cases. However, CBSE allowed Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) to register 45 students per section considering many students come from disadvantaged sections and the board will as a ‘one-time relief’, allowing registrations without penalty. The last date for class 9 and class 11 registrations is October 22, 2018.
