CBSE Issues New Dress Code NEET Candidates: Students to Wear Light-Coloured Half Sleeves Dress, No Shoes

New Delhi, April 19: Students appearing for upcoming National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exam will now have to follow a dress code.  Yes, you read it right! A directive by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) stated that students will have to wear light-coloured, half sleeves dress while appearing for the exam. It must be noted that the NEET exam has been scheduled for May 6 this year from 10 am to 1 pm. “The schedule will remain unaltered even if the date of the test is declared a public holiday,” CBSE said in a statement.

According to a report by TOI, the board further informed that the dress should not having big buttons, brooch/badge, flower etc. with salwar/ trouser, and slippers, sandals with low heels. Also, no shoes would be allowed in the exam centre.

“While issuing the admit cards for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for students willing to pursue MBBS and BDS at medical colleges, the board has advised candidates to come in “light-coloured half-sleeves dress” and “not to wear shoes”, the TOI report said. The board, while reiterating the dress code it announced in 2017 said that the candidates will have to report at the exam centre an hour earlier in case they choose to wear their “customary dress”.

It must be noted that students will not be allowed to carry communication devices to the exam centres. The restricted items include geometry/pencil box, handbags, belt, cap, ornaments, watch and any other metallic item. Reports state that the board has made it clear that no arrangement would be made at the centres for keeping any items belonging to the candidates.
