In the wake of re-examination, students took to streets, holding a protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi on March 29. Again, the Delhi Police is in action as they are investigating the matter on the question paper leak, questioned a popular coaching institute founder in Delhi named Vicky. The announcement by CBSE to hold retest for class 10 Mathematics and class 12 Economics have created a hustle among the students and their concerned parents. In order to curb the situation, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar addressed the media at the capital. He called the CBSE exam paper leaks ‘unfortunate’ and assured a quick arrest in the matter.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have started raids in several areas in Delhi namely, Rohini, Dwarka and Rajindar Nagar. Javadekar vowed not to spare the guilty in the question paper leak.

5 things that HRD Minister said on CBSE exam paper leak controversy:

  • “I could not sleep, I am also a parent,” says Javadekar. “This is a very unfortunate development, I understand the pain the parents and students have to go through. Whoever is involved in the paper leak will not be spared, police will soon arrest the culprits," he added.

  • Javadekar told reporters that “2-3 question papers” were leaked and promised students and their concerned parents that the authorities have immediately filed a complaint against it.

  • The HRD Minister further assured that the necessary changes in the education sector will be taken. He said, “This is a stain on CBSE. We have made a SIT and there is an internal investigation going on.”

  • Javadekar said that the new exam dates shall be announced next week, on March 2 or March 3 on the official website of the CBSE.

  • Javadekar informed the reporters that, “The government will, with the help of technology, put in place a system which is so fool proof that there is no leak. We have also decided to tighten security for the time when papers are being distributed in the examination centres.”

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), which would comprise of 2 DCPs, 4 ACPs and 5 inspectors, has been constituted to look into the incident. The students at Delhi continues with the protest at Jantar Mantar against the announcement of re-examination and says, “either there should be re-examinations of all subjects or else of neither.” They raise slogans, ‘we want justice’. On the other hand, CBSE officials have remained silent as reportedly they are on 4 days leave on account of the gazetted holidays and will resume to work on April 2. With it, the fate of over 28 lakh students are at stake.
