New Delhi, May 29: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has continued with the moderation policy this year as well, as more number of students were found in the 95-mark fray in various subjects including English, Hindi and Maths.
Under the moderation policy, a student scoring between 87-94 in any paper would automatically be marked 95. The grace marks, critics argue, create undue competition for the students who have strove hard to secure 95 marks without any grace score.
Experts claim there are instances where a student has attempted only 90-mark questions in the examination, but ends up scoring 95 due to the moderation policy.
In view of the unprecedented cutoff marks in universities and junior colleges, the CBSE had last year announced it would be scrapping the moderation policy. Not only the rounding off marks were to be scrapped, but the grace marks awarded to any student in case he is failing by a few notches, would be explicitly mentioned in the report card.
However, teachers claim the changes were not put into effect in this round of the examinations.
The CBSE Class 12th results were declared on Sunday. The pass percentage was recorded as 83.01. The Class 10th results of the CBSE will be declared today at 4 pm.
