CBSE Class X Math, Class XII Economic Re-exam: PM Modi Unhappy Over Paper Leak, Orders Strict Action
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct a re-examination for the Class X Maths and Class XII Economics papers over reports of the paper leak.
New Delhi, March 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar and conveyed his unhappiness over the issue of CBSE paper leaks of Class 10th and 12th. The Prime Minister had sought strict action against the perpetrators. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct a re-examination for the Class X Maths and Class XII Economics papers over reports of the paper leak.
Later in the day, while speaking at a press conference, Javadekar was quoted by ANI saying that some parts of the paper were leaked on WhatsApp & the government has made Police complaint regarding it. The Minister informed that investigation into the matter is underway and assured that the culprits will be identified and won’t be spared. “We have also decided to tighten security for the time when papers are being distributed”, he added.
“Board has taken cognizance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations as are being reported. With the view to uphold the sanctity of the Board Examinations and in the interest of the fairness to the students, the Board has decided to re-conduct the examinations in the following subjects,” a statement released by the Board said. The statement added that the dates for fresh examinations and the other details shall be hosted on the CBSE website within a week.
To recall, Class XII CBSE students were left appalled following the rumours of their Economics paper being leaked on social media hours before the examination on March 26. The Board, however, denied any leak. A similar incident occurred on March 15 when several students had received copies of CBSE Accountancy paper on WhatsApp, hours before their exam. The matter came to light after Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia received a copy of the “leaked” paper.
