CBSE is slated to introduce major changes in the question paper pattern of class 12 board exams.The main objective to introduce the new paper pattern in class 12 examinations is to decrease rote learning and develop analytical skills and reasoning abilities among the students.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is slated to introduce major changes in the question paper pattern of class 12 board exams. As per CBSE officials, the board will give more importance to the internal assessment of the students. The main objective to introduce the new paper pattern in class 12 examinations is to decrease rote learning and develop analytical skills and reasoning abilities among the students. According to the discussed CBSE class 12 paper pattern, more weight will be given on the school-based internal assessment. 20 percent of marks will be kept for CBSE internal assessment in all the subjects from the upcoming examinations. Science and Arts subjects will carry the same weight.
CBSE Class 12 Exam Paper Pattern: What Are the Changes?
- Until this year, the internal assessment was not involved in all the subjects of class 12. However, according to the new assessment scheme, about 20 percent of the marks will be kept for internal tests in all the subjects. From 2020 board exams, CBSE question paper will carry 80 percent marks. But for Science and Fine Arts subjects, the weightage will remain the same.
- From 2020, more number of objective questions will be introduced. About 25 percent of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will be introduced in all the subjects. Hence, out of 80, only 60 marks will be given to the subjective type questions where students are asked to write detailed answers.
- CBSE had already introduced more number of internal choices in 2019 board examinations, where the internal options in all sections of the paper were increased by 33 percent. The same pattern shall be continued for the upcoming year as well.
As per reports, CBSE has also eliminated a few chapters from the syllabus of CBSE class 12 academic session 2019-20. The students must also note that the board is also planning to introduce changes in the evaluation process. The evaluator will now have to check only 20 answer sheets, instead of 25.
