New Delhi, April 20: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in a recent confirmation has stated that Class 10 Students will now get two marks for a typing error in the English question paper. CBSE conducted the class 10 English board examination on March 12, 2018. Minutes after the paper were distributed, the students and the examiners started discussing about a question which was wrong in the comprehension passage. The question asked the students to search and write the synonyms for endurance, obstruction and motivation from paragraphs two, four and five in the comprehension passage. This lead to confusion to many students. It was only when the examiners noted the actual synonyms were printed in the third and sixth parts of the passage.
One of the teacher was quoted in the same report saying, “Students tend to look for the meanings in the paras specified. However, even if a student was able to search for the synonyms in different paragraphs, he/she would have been confused regarding the same, trying to find some other synonym which was not there!”
Several teachers and students had approached the Board with the plea that the paper had certain errors in the comprehension passage section.
