CBSE Class 10 English Paper: Board To Give Extra 2 Marks For Incorrect Question
The board have decided to give these marks to all the students who have attempted the question. The question asked the students to search and write the synonyms from paragraphs two, four and five in the comprehension passage.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has declared to give two extra marks to the students. In a move to the concern raised by the teachers and students about a question in class 10 English examination which was said to be incorrect, the board is likely to award extra marks. As per a report stated by Times Now, CBSE officials have agreed to give 2 marks for the comprehension passage question which had asked students to look for synonyms. The board have decided to give these marks to all the students who have attempted the question.
CBSE conducted the class 10 English board examination on March 12, 2018. Minutes after the paper was distributed, the students and the examiners started buzzing about a question which was wrong in the comprehension passage. The question asked the students to search and write the synonyms for endurance, obstruction and motivation from paragraphs two, four and five in the comprehension passage. This lead to confusion to many students. It was only when the examiners noted the actual synonyms were printed in the third and sixth parts of the passage.
One of the teacher was quoted in the same report saying, “Students tend to look for the meanings in the paras specified. However, even if a student was able to search for the synonyms in different paragraphs, he/she would have been confused regarding the same, trying to find some other synonym which was not there!”
Talking about the entire English question paper analysis, the teachers reported that the literature section was a bit tricky, but the remaining paper was easy. However, CBSE has not yet declared or made it official, neither the marking scheme of the paper has been shared. We are waiting for the confirmation of CBSE to grant these 2 marks to students.
