It is the exam season and the students in the nation are all busy in their last-minute preparations. Although a few state boards are yet to release the exam date sheet, the centralised educational boards have published the date sheet online and are also sharing essential updates for the candidates. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently released the admit card for class 10 and class 12 board examinations 2019, which is slated to begin from February. As of now, CBSE is conducting the practical exams at the affiliated schools which is scheduled to continue till February 15. According to the CBSE class 12 timetable, the board exams are going to start from February 15 and continue till April 3. Apart from stringent measures to monitor this year’s board exams, CBSE has also introduced a few changes to curb the malpractice at the affiliated schools. The English paper pattern for class 12 has been revised. After a line of feedback received from various stakeholders, the board has decided to lessen the length of the passages in Section A (Reading) to two, compared to earlier three. On the other hand, for class 10, the passing criteria are now revised. They now have to score 33 per cent in both the internal and external exam (taken together) to crack the board exams in 2019. Recent reports suggest that CBSE is working to include practical in the class 12 humanities subjects from 2020. If implemented, school teachers will also have a say in the marking pattern. However, the board is yet to confirm it, and it will only be executed from the next academic year 2020, so that both students and teachers get acquainted with the new exam reform.
