New Delhi, March 3: Students who appeared for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 English paper complained that they have been "cheated" of six marks as the question paper pattern was not as per the norms told to them by their schools and as prescribed by the Board. CBSE Class 12 Exam 2019: Board Changes Question Paper Pattern For English; Check at cbse.nic.in.

The syllabus prescribed by the Board says that students have to read one of the novels from two: Invisible Man or Silas Marner. However, this time in the question paper, question number 11 and 12 had sub questions from both the novels and they had to answer one question from both question number 11 and 12.

The question paper shows that in question 11, there are four sub questions from the novel Silas Marner. And in question 12, four from the novel Invisible Man. However, schools  over the years have been teaching students only one novel as has been the norm considering that students get to answer two questions from the same novel.

However, CBSE spokesperson has said that the Board has taken note of the problem and assured that no student will be put to disadvantage. Some students also took to social media and posted about the goof up in the question paper.
