New Delhi, March 30: A CBSE student from Cochin named Rohan Mathew has approached the Supreme Court amid escalating tensions over the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics paper leak. Rohan has approached the Apex Court against the decision of the CBSE to cancel and re-conduct the Class 10 Math exam held on March 28 on suspicion of question.
The CBSE student has sought to quash the decision of CBSE to re-conduct examination, & for directing Board to publish results on the basis of already held examination. He also sought setting up of a special high-powered committee to conduct a detailed investigation into the entire case.
The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry on Friday announced that the re-examination for the Economics paper for Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students will be held on 25 April. "Re-examination of Class 12th exam will be on 25th April," Union Education Secretary Anil Swarup said while addressing media at a press conference.
Regarding Class 10th re-examination, Swarup said that the leak was restricted to Delhi and Haryana, if it at all a re-exam will happen, it will happen only in Delhi and Haryana and a decision will be taken on this in next 15 days. “If at all a re-exam is done, it will be held in July”, he told media.
Swarup said that the decision to hold Class 12 examination is in context, nature, and consequences of the examination of Class 12 examination. “As I mentioned earlier, children have to go to the University to seek admission they have to appear in various examinations. Most importantly there is no time for a detailed inquiry where exactly the leak happened," he said.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi Police Crime Branch identified over 10 WhatsApp groups involved in the CBSE Paper Leak. As per details by the Police, each WhatsApp group have around 50-60 members. The investigation and questioning into the matter is underway.
