The Bihar Police Sub-ordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) is in its final stage to recruit Sub Inspectors (SI) in the state. In the last month, the commission announced the results for the written mains exam which was conducted on July 22. About 10,161 candidates qualified for the next test—Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which is scheduled to begin from September 15. However, several candidates complained of huge loopholes and violation of reservation policy in the selection process. Following which the Patna High Court today withheld the announcement of final results. 11 Lakh Students Skip RRB Group C Job Opportunity.
On the other hand, the court allowed the conducting body BPSSC to continue with the PET as the written examinations have been conducted already. The petitioners claimed before the court that 222 women candidates of OBC category were declared pass in the preliminary test while more than 600 women under same category cleared the SI Mains 2018.
Representing the petitioners, Advocate Chakrapani was quoted in a TOI report as saying, “How is it possible that more candidates passed the main examination than in the PT from that category. The same is the situation with other reservation categories.”
On receiving the complaints, an expert committee has been set up to look into the matter. At present, HC has stayed the declaration of final results on technical grounds and has also given time to the commission to correct their faults. The preliminary SI exam was conducted in March and April this year. BPSSC is conducting the recruitment drive to fill in 1,717 vacant police SI positions, the notification for the same was released on September 16, 2017.
