Teachers and paper correctors of the Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF) final examination papers were left confounded with a True or False question, which seemed a joke in itself. The Taxation-V (Indirect Taxes-III) test had a question in True or False which asked if 'GST means Good night Sweet dream Take care'. Any final semester examination is a stressful situation for the students appearing for it. Be it Class 10, Class 12, graduation or post-graduation, the final examination is a stressing point for students to prepare for. But we are sure the students would have had a laugh at this question. Around 9,000 students appeared for this examination held on Monday, May 6. While the question sure guarantees one extra mark for the students, it does raise concerns about the setting of the question papers. One of the college professors was quoted to Hindustan Times, "In a subject where goods and service tax [GST] forms a large and relevant part of the syllabus, I’m sure the examiners could have come up with a better question. Such questions reflect no seriousness on the part of the paper setters and while it may act as an extra mark for the students, there could've been better ways to frame a question for the final examination of the undergraduate students. Talking about the matter, University of Mumbai officials said they are yet to receive any complaint. "If we do receive a complaint, a subject expert will be assigned to handle the issue," said Vinod Malale, deputy registrar (public relations), MU. For a paper that is heavily based on GST, students would be far from expecting SMS language full forms in their papers.
