The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) preliminary exam was conducted on July 29 in 14 centres of the state. APPSC Chairman Nipo Nabam informed the media that the exams were held peacefully in the state in which about 12 thousand candidates participated. However, the students revealed the commission’s negligence over setting accurate questions for the candidates in the exam. On July 31, the candidates protested outside the APPSC office and demanded re-conduct of the examination, claiming that nearly 60 questions in the Geography paper were copied from the 2014 CBSE NET.

They continued to argue that the state civil service is a graduate level examination and not Post Graduate. In fact, two candidates complained of glitches in its commerce question paper. In the same paper, more than 64 questions were not from the prescribed syllabus. Hence, both the aspirants requested the APPSC office to provide grace marks for those 64 questions or re-conduct the examination keeping in mind the prescribed syllabus within 10 to 15 days. Looking at both the matter, the Secretary of APPSC informed to put the concern to the chairman and take actions accordingly.

On the day of the exam, for smooth functioning, the government shut down the internet, and strict security arrangements were made to monitor the recruitment exam. In the protest, the raged students further demanded the resignation of the members of the APPSC along with the chairman. This is not the first incident of the commission’s complete negligence in setting the question paper. Even in November 2018, APPSC was in the news after they copy pasted the questions from Pakistan Civil Service Examination.
