It is time to put an end to malpractices in the conduct of examinations. Chendhuran College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, will not be affiliated to Anna University anymore. Reportedly, the college after being caught in major mismanagement, the university decided to take its affiliation away from next academic onward. The controller of examinations of Anna University decided the cancellation of affiliation. The final report is on the process. During the semester exam, the university officials found that the son of the college’s owner used a substitute candidate to write his exams. A senior official from Anna University told TOI, “The college owner’s son used a proxy candidate to write his semester exams. The university syndicate (top most decision making boy) withdrew affiliation in its previous meeting.” Not just Chendhuran College, reportedly three other colleges were also pulled up for mass malpractice in the semester exams. The Controller of Examinations of Anna University had set up an enquiry committee which was preparing its final report. After the malpractices came into limelight, teachers working in these colleges were not allowed to act as exam hall supervisors. 50 per cent of the teaching faculty from other colleges were mandatorily involved in the examination hall.
