The clause 14.2 of Regulations 2017 of the Anna University states “If a student fails to secure a pass in a theory course (except electives), the student shall do reappearance registration only along with regular students for that course in the subsequent semester, when offered next, earn continuous assessment marks and attend the end semester examination.” Until the regulation came into action, if one fails in a subject in a semester, he or she can appear for the same in the next semester. What is BanR2017?
R2017 is the resolution passed by AU which introduced some significant changes to the arrear system. Since the time, it came into place, students have been very vocal about wanting the regulation to be removed. And the semester exam results which were announced earlier this week, made the situation worst.
As per the engineering students, the regulation has only added burden to them as the job market is fragile. Further, students also believe that waiting one full year also lessens the chance of clearing the paper in the reappearance as they move on to other subjects they have been introduced in the new academic year. Besides, students also noted AU’s re-evaluation scam. Many stringent measures have come into place to prevent malpractices during the exam. According to the students, the strict evaluation procedure after the fraud has contributed to the poor results.
