After much wait, the Goa Accounts Department announced the results for accountant vacancies today, August 21, 2018. The exams for 80 government posts was held on January 1 this year. Sadly, more than 10,000 candidates who participated in the exam could not clear the test. You read it right. All the accountant aspirant who took the exam to secure a state government job failed to achieve a passing mark. In addition, the Directorate of Accounts will now re-advertise the posts on its official website soon. NEET Exam Pattern Remains Same! According to Hindustan Times, 10,815 candidates qualified the first-stage and were selected for the written examination for the 80 accountant positions. The notification which released last year divided the vacancies category wise—43 under general category, 21 for other backward classes, 9 for scheduled tribes, 2 each for scheduled castes and children of freedom fighters. One position each was reserved for ex-servicemen and sportspersons.
The director of Accounts, Prakash Pereira while announcing the results was quoted in the same report as saying, “I hereby declare that no candidate who appeared for the initial recruitment examination for the post of accountant (direct recruits) held on January 01, 2018, has secured the minimum qualifying marks necessary for passing.” Only those who secured a bachelor’s degree in commerce or arts with economics were eligible to appear in the exam.
Pereira further added, “The test was not overly difficult and was on par with similar tests held for government service posts. None of the candidates could secure the required marks.” As the officials have decided to re-publish the available vacancies, candidates will have to undergo with the same procedure again and need to increase their preparation strategy to surpass the written exam to get selected at the Goa Accounts Department. The notification on the same will be released soon.
