After recommending new exam reform policy to the best of interest for the engineering students, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has extended its Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme to postgraduate (PG) courses. So far, the scheme was enjoyed by engineering and other students pursuing bachelor courses. But from now students opting for Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and other postgraduate diploma courses. Under this new TFW schemes for postgraduates, an additional 5 per cent seats will be offered in each course for students who are from the weaker economic section of the society. Students whose annual family is less than six lakhs are eligible for this quota. Those who fit for this scheme will not have to pay any tuition fee during the time. Announcing the move, in an official statement, the AICTE said, “It has been decided to extend the benefits fo the TFW scheme to the meritorious students of economically poor background (students) pursuing MBA, MCA, PGDM, PGDCA, courses.” GATE Is Not Mandatory Exit Exam for Engineering Students to Get B.Tech, B.E. Key points you should know for AICTE TFW scheme

1. The new TFW scheme will be available under all AICTE recognised colleges where no other scholarship is provided.

2. A maximum 5 per cent of sanctioned intake per courses will be allowed for TFW.

3. This scheme will be applicable only after 30 per cent seats of each course are filled.

4. Students whose annual income is less than six lakhs are eligible for the TFW scheme.

5. The waiver is limited to tuition fee only, and the student will have to pay all other expenses.

6. The students must also note that after securing the admission under the scheme, they will not be allowed to change their course or branch later.

This move by the AICTE has definitely been appreciated by students and educators. Each admission year, a separate notification will be released by the college or AICTE for the extra seats. Candidates can apply during that time. Apart from all the other required documents, an income certificate will be required for admission on these seats at the postgraduate courses.
