Kolkata, October 10: The Met Department has warned that run-up to Durga Puja could be spoiled due to rains by an approaching cyclone. According to Times of India report, depression has started over the southeast Bay of Bengal, and adjoining North Andaman Sea, and is likely to intensify into a cyclone by October 10. There are chances that the cyclone could weaken after that, but the chances of sporadic showers during the Durga Puja still remains. The cyclone, which is yet to be named, was stationed 950kms south of Kolkata in the Southeast Bay of Bengal, the wind speed could touch 75km/hr in the coastal areas. There is news that the rains will lose their intensity, but the chances of sporadic showers cannot be ruled out.
