Donald Trump Jr. is in Praise of The 'Smiling' Poor People of India

Trump Jr said that the spirit of the country is very much different from what is observed in other parts of the world, which makes it 'unique'.

The United States President Donald Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. who is in India praised the poor people of the country for smiling even during tough conditions. He said, "I don't want to be glib but you can see the poorest of the poor and there is still a smile on a face." Trump Jr said that the spirit of the country is very much different from what is observed in other parts of the world, which makes it 'unique'.

He was quoted as saying, "I don't want to be glib but you can see the poorest of the poor and there is still a smile on a face." He also said, "I know some of the most successful businessmen in the world, and some of them are the most miserable people in the world." Trump Jr is on a week-long visit to India is scheduled to promote his family's real estate empire and the Trump Tower projects in four cities. He met real estate developers at Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi. Trump Jr. also met members of real estate firms M3M India and Tribeca Developers.

When asked about the constant media scrutiny, PTI quoted him as saying, "Asked about being under constant scrutiny, he said even when he jokes and smiles, it is interpreted in whatever way the media wants."

He is the executive vice president of the Trump Organization which is developing a number of high profile properties in various parts of the country. The US State Department had earlier said that he is traveling to India as a private citizen and not in an official capacity.

Talking about his visit, State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert was quoted as saying at a daily news conference, "We certainly are aware that Mr Trump is in the region, that he's there as a private citizen, not as an official US government in any capacity."  Trump Jr. is scheduled to speak on "Reshaping Indo-Pacific Ties: The New Era of Cooperation," at the Economic Times Global Business Summit.
