New Delhi, Aug 2: A day after Sushma Swaraj said the status quo was maintained in Doklam thorugh diplomatic maturity, Congress president Rahul Gandhi fired a fresh salvo at the Minister of External Affairs and said she buckled under pressure from the Chinese government. Rahul Gandhi said the Army jawans were betrayed due to 'absolute subservience'.

"Amazing how a lady like Sushma ji has buckled and prostrated herself in front of Chinese power. Absolute subservience to the leader means our brave jawan has been betrayed on the border. #Doklam," he tweeted. The Congress leader also quoted a report in which a senior US government official said that China had resumed its activities in the Doklam area.

On Wednesday, Swaraj told Lok Sabha that there has been no change in the status quo at the site of the military face-off with China in Doklam and the issue was resolved with diplomatic maturity in August last year. She was replying to queries of Trinamool Congress (TMC) member Sugata Bose. He had asked if the Doklam issue had figured during PM Modi's interactions with the Chinese President.

"As far as Doklam issue is concerned, I am saying with full responsibility it has been solved with diplomatic maturity. There is status quo at the face-off site and there is not an inch of change," she said. She added the informal Wuhan summit in April between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had led to "solid achievements".

The 73-day standoff at Doklam plateau in the Sikkim sector of the border ended in August last year after India and China agreed to disengage their troops. The two sides were locked in a face-off after the Indian troops stopped the building of a road in the disputed tri-junction by the Chinese army.
