Mumbai, July 17: Soon the digital format of driving licence, car registration certificate, and the other permits issued to commercial vehicles will be declared legal by the Maharashtra government. According to a Times of India report, the digital documents, which needs to be stored on the government cloud-based platform Digi Locker will be accepted by government agencies as genuine.
Reportedly, the Centre is taking the step because some state transport authorities are not accepting the digital version of the government documents like driving license. The measure will be extremely convenient for the vehicle owners, who can easily flash their license by switching on to the smartphone. The documents can be accessed on other digital devices using the DigiLocker facility.
Once the government notification is issued, it will benefit taxi, private cab, auto rickshaw, and truck owners, as the permits can be stored digitally, and accessed from a digital locker. There is no need to worry if you forget to step out of your home without your driving licence, and other important documents, because now these can be accessed anywhere as it will always be stored on the cloud platform.
