Delhi Metro Pink Line: Trial Run Successful, 20-km Stretch to Open Soon
Delhi Metro Pink Line will be the longest metro route in the nation, covering a stretch of 59.58 kilometres.
New Delhi, Feb 21: The 20.6-km stretch of the Delhi Metro's Pink Line, connecting Majlis Park to Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus, will be open for commercial use by early next month. The trial run on the route was successfully conducted on February 7, said a recent press release issued by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The Majlis Park to Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus is the first segment of the pink line which will turn operational.
Between February 26 to 28, the official said, an inspection would be conducted of the Majlis Park to Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus route by Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). Post the approval for the CMRS, the line would immediately be opened for public commutation, said a senior DMRC official.
The entire Pink Line, covering 59.58-km, will be thrown open for public by June this year, the official claimed, further adding that only the 1.5-km stretch between Mayur Vihar and Trilokpuri would be further delayed.
The Pink Line route will cover Delhi using an arc stretch, connecting the north, northwest, west and south Delhi. The first segment, which is expected to be inaugurated next month, will include 12 stations.
