Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat took cognizance of the incident after being alerted through social media. The Chief Minister's Office said a thorough inquiry would be conducted into the incident. State Health Secretary Piyush Singh has been asked to submit a report to the CM.
According to the Opposition, the issues in the operation of Doon Hospital cropped up after the government changed it from a District Hospital to a Medical College Hospital.
Doon Hospital handles over 2,000 outpatient department (OPD) patients every day. With half the premises now being used for medical education purpose, critics claim the patients admitted to the hospital are not subjected to efficient treatment.
