Hyderabad, Jan 29: The decapitated head of a 25-year-old man was found in Telangana's Nalgonda district on Monday. The severed head was kept on the wall of a religious structure in Bottuguda area, police said.

As per the preliminary investigation, the deceased, identified as P Ramesh, was murdered on Sunday night when he went out to buy medicines. A search operation has been launched to trace his missing torso. Sniffer dogs were also deployed to find the mutilated body part in the vicinity.

Ramesh was employed as a tractor driver, the police said, adding that the cause of the murder is yet to be unearthed.

The owner of the tractor was interrogated, a police officer said, stating that the case is being investigated from all angles.

The incidents marks the second murder in district within a week. On January 24, B Srinivas, the husband of Nalgonda municipal chairperson B Lakshmi, was found murdered. As per the police probe, Srinivas was crushed with boulders after he was involved in a heated argument with the accused men.

A total of eight people have been arrested in connection to the case so far.
